I was lucky to meet Timm Süßbrich of Barre Noire backstage before his show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin! He wore: some kinda Star Wars jumper, I wore: something pink…we talked and here is what he had to say…
How did you sleep last night?
Very well, too well to be honest – I slept in.
Ouch, were you late?
Well, luckily I managed to pack all clothes up last night so I was nearly on time this morning. I am ok now, the clothes are here, so are the models. I can rest now…
Everyone will ask you this but what can we expect?
That’s right, everyone does ask me this, here we go: Flower prints, colourful metallics, muted greys, collarless blouses, tailored pants…all inspired by my hometown Berlin! We aren’t Paris, London or New York, we are more urban and cool in a way and I am trying to portray that exactly!
Nice, did you leave your studio in a mess?
It looks like war! But that’s ok, I will drop all clothes back there later, lock up and only come back in a weeks time!
Good idea, any plans for after the show?
I have to eat…kinda forgot about that for the past couple of weeks, so I will be heading to some of my Berlin favourites: Transit, Wäscherei and McDonalds. I love McDonalds. I have got one right next door, so I tend to enjoy some burgers every now and then.
Yeah, but the other day I went to this amazing restaurant and ate silkworms..not great if you ask me!
Yeah, I think you should rather stick to silk regarding your collection…by the way, what models will be walking your show?
I have a lot of lovely girls, who really fit the style. I have actually been working with them for a couple of years now. They know their left from their right shoe, if you know what I mean. It’s important if you are doing a show!
…and you know Claudia Schiffer…
That’s right, we were doing a tv show about two years back. She is amazing, I mean, super tall, fabulous looking and a real sweetheart! None of that German coolness everybody keeps judging her with! She is a reall nice lady!
Could you get any advice from the supermodel?
She told me to stick to my work and not listen to other people. The world of fashion is tough and everyone in that business tends to know better in one way or the other. Claudia is professional, she has been following those exact words, that she told me, all her life. Can’t go wrong!
What are you doing after the show?
Going to see all the other shows, party at Berghain and then back to work: shooting the look book, trying to find a showroom, sell the collection….and start all over again!
